Shira and Drew at Artists for Humanity Epicenter
Bah! I've been SO EXCITED for this wedding for a while now. I mean, I'm excited about all my weddings, don't get me wrong--but this one in particular I was especially looking forward to. Why? Well, for one thing, it's at the Artists for Humanity Epicenter in South Boston which is one of my all time favorite venues ever. I shot there for the first time two years ago and have been dying to shoot there again. Lucky me, Shira and Drew had their wedding here last weekend--and I've got two more booked there for 2011! Hooray! Why else was I particularly pumped for this wedding? Shira, who works for a fashion designer in Chicago, is one of my most detail oriented and exceptionally creative brides. Shira had a very specific, sophisticated DIY look she was going for and I have to say I think she totally pulled it off. So many of the details and other visual elements were put together by Shira and Drew and their families. Everything from the bouquets Shira made herself out of Fabric and buttons, to the programs, to the tiny jars of HOMEMADE HONEY each adorned with a little honey comb and a message thanking their guests for making their day "so sweet" was hand crafted by either Shira herself or a close family member. The wedding had a distinct DIY organic feel to it and with all hard work put into the details by Shira and her family, you could really feel a strong sense of family and love in the room.
Thank you again to Shira and Drew for asking me to be a part of your wedding day! It was truly a privilege to get to photograph such a beautiful wedding and work with two amazing families! Also wanted to thank Melanie Owens of Inspired Events who was the day-of wedding coordinator on this one! Melanie you were SO MUCH fun to work with and I really hope we get to work together again soon!
One last thanks and that is to Dana Curran, a recent NESoP grad who was awesome enough to tag along with me for this one and help keep my head on straight :) With such a large wedding party and a short window of time for pictures Dana really came through in helping me stay on track for portraits, not to mention was just a joy to work with throughout the day. Thanks, friend!
